"Asian Games 2010-Nicol and Azlan Bag the Individual Golds For Malaysia"
The top seeds, Nicol David and Mohd Azlan Iskandar, helped Malaysia increase their Gold tally at the 2010 Asian Games, by capturing the women's and men's individual titles respectively. The finals played on a brand new All-Glass court at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium at Guangzhou, was witnessed by a capacity crowd.

World Champion, Nicol David had to pull out all her ammunitions to ward off a determined Annie Au of Hong Kong, before prevailing 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7 in 39 minutes.

With the support of a partisan crowd, the inspired 21 year old Annie Au, used delicate drops and deft lops to scare the World No. 1. This did not deter Nicol, who dug deep and brought out her best to seal the match, for her third Asian Games Gold medal.

Mohd Azlan Iskandar ensured that the men's Gold medal remained in Malaysian hands, by nailing his first Asiad title in just 39 minutes with a convincing 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 win over third seed Aamir Atlas Khan of Pakistan.

Azlan now has a full collection of Asian Games medals in all three colours. Azlan won the bronze in 2002 (Busan) and lost to team-mate Ong Beng Hee to take the silver in 2006 (Doha).
